Abstract

NAMUR and ZVEI are currently working together on a “big picture” that shows what a modern automation concept can look like that also makes a positive contribution to a company’s competitiveness and long-term site assurance. This also includes the three core economic issues of sustainability, skills shortages and supply chain resilience. This article will now list some use cases as examples, including the technologies required for them. However, even individual use cases are no longer sufficient for a modern automation concept; a clever combination of individual use cases is the key. This not only further increases the benefit, but also ensures it in the long term. The right link between the individual use cases are the asset administration shells in combination with the open, decentralized and collaborative Manufacturing-X data space.
